These historical writings are not considered inspired but they are invaluable in telling us what the Christian Church of the first centuries believed and taught. As we study Scripture, we should see how they interpreted things and consider their views as we decide on how we interpret it. After all, if we heed advice of modern scholars and pastors as we learn God's written Word, we should also consider the teachings of the earliest scholars and pastors (some who learned directly from an Apostle) as well.
